Kay O'Reilly
Chapel Pantry Director
Since 2009, Kay has served as the Director of the Chapel Pantry at Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church. Drawing on her background as a caterer, she has applied her expertise in food costs, nutrition, inventory management, and capacity building to transform the pantry from a small, non-perishables operation into a full-service, client-choice pantry. Today, the Chapel Pantry provides fresh produce, dairy, meat, eggs, and baked goods, operating out of a robust facility that evolved from a small closet in the parish hall. Under Kay's leadership, the pantry now serves thousands of families annually, distributing nearly 2 million pounds of food in 2023.
Kay has also contributed to the wider fight against hunger as a former member of the Board of Directors for the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. Additionally, she continues her work on the Foodbank's Agency Advisory Council, where she previously served as chairperson.
Our Team
Liz Dyson
As the Chapel Pantry assistant, Liz supports Kay in managing daily tasks, including social media and website updates, volunteer newsletter, and other miscellaneous pantry tasks.
Matthew Kundmueller
Matthew Kundmueller is the Pantry’s Wednesday shift supervisor. Half his day is spent on the care and maintenance of Pantry equipment and facilities, while the second half is spent supervising the Wednesday volunteers. Matthew started as a volunteer and joined the staff a year ago.
Doug Larkin
Doug Larkin is the Pantry’s transportation and logistics expert. Doug drives our two refrigerated trucks and manages our retail rescue store pickups. Doug has volunteered with the Pantry since 2014 and joined our staff two years ago. Doug ensures the Pantry is able to receive and distribute more than 400 tons of rescued food each year to help feed our neighbors.
Tracey Larkin
Tracey Larkin has volunteered with the Pantry since 2011 and she has been on staff for five years. Tracey is Kay’s “right hand,” in charge of guest check-in, database training, and volunteer supervision. Much of the Pantry’s success is due to Tracey’s dedication and hard work.
The Chapel Pantry Assistant supports the Director in managing daily operations, including social media and website updates, volunteer coordination, and pantry logistics. Passionate about serving the community, they play a key role in ensuring the pantry runs smoothly and continues to provide essential services to thousands of families each year.
